Plus Size Bloggers Weekly Weigh In: November 1, 2010
Last week’s weigh in must have been a fluke. I’m not surprised though. The only thing I can chock it up to is the fact that I drank a TON of liquid due to being sick and of course this week I have not. Not only that, but I haven’t worked out any this week either, so I’m really not too surprised at what the scale said this week.
I’m really not looking to win this contest, I do it mostly for accountability. I know I struggle greatly with the whole weight loss thing because of my thyroid, and to be honest, I’m working at it like I should. Okay, I’m really not working at it at all. Not really. I’m not counting calories, doing weight watchers or anything. Ugh. And the fact that I now know we can’t afford to join the gym right now. Ugh.
But, like I said in my previous post, it will have to be me and Jillian. I just gotta find the time. Okay, make the time. I know this time of year is always difficult because I’m SUPER busy getting ready for the Chosen Conference. Not to mention I am working part time as the church secretary for our new church. It’s pretty much like working a full time job and 2 part time jobs (my work at home business is my other job). So, not only am I going into the office 4 or 5 days a week, I then come home and work on my online business and catch up what I need to there. I know once Chosen is over, this will all settle down and I will have more time for other things like working out with Jillian. Right now it just seems almost impossible to find the extra time to do so.
I hate this week’s weigh in. Even though I had a feeling last week’s was a fluke of some sort, although I REALLY liked what the scale said…I figured it was probably too good to be true…even though I weighed myself twice last time just to make sure the scale wasn’t being goofy.
I won’t keep you any longer….
So there you have it. UP 4.6 pounds from last week. Ugh.
Do you all have any suggestions or thoughts on why one week I would lose 6 pounds and the next gain 4.6 back??? I know I didn’t eat any more than normal…so it’s not like I went on a binge and ate a ton or ate a bunch of bad stuff. I didn’t eat any highly salty things so I’m not retaining water. Last week I WAS on my period…as of today it is done. I didn’t work out this week, but last week I did 2 days. Maybe that IS it?! I don’t know. What are your thoughts and opinions? Is it a thyroid thing since I have low thyroid??? Perhaps.

As long as you know you didn’t binge maybe all it was – was the exercise. It really is amazing how much exercise helps in the weight loss arena – we think mainly about the food when losing weight but Exercise is good for everything – including seeing the numbers on the scale go down.
Sometimes we just need to get our of our head – just chalk it up as some fluke (the gain not the loss).
I too weigh myself repeatedly when the scale says I’ve lost more than 2 pounds – like we don’t think high numbers are possible for us?
Keep going – You will lose your 15 and you will be proud of yourself.
Just because you can’t do the gym doesn’t mean you can work out. (doesn’t have to be traditional either)
You can split a workout over 3 times in a day. 15 min morning 15 mid day (afternoon) and 15 after dinner or late evening. [climb the stairs in an office building psst doesn't even have to be the one you work in ]

The scale is like the worst friend you could ever have… always messing with your head.
I’d say that the whole 4.6 isn’t “real” and you’re down a couple pounds over the two week period.
Some fluxuations are crazy like that. Unless it keeps up, I wouldn’t worry about it.
I bet a lot of things could be related to your thyroid condition too.
Do you weigh daily? I’m curious if it was back down the very next day.

That’s a really great idea, breaking up the exercise like that! One of my Jillian Michael’s DVD’s would be perfect for doing that too…the Banish Fat Boost Metabolism one. I’ll try to do that tomorrow. Get up 15 minutes earlier and do a good workout, then do one when I get home…Wednesday’s are always long days for me because we have youth group in the evening. But even if I could 15 minutes in in the morning and 15 after youth group, I bet that would freak my body out! LOL Thanks again!
I don’t weight daily because it fluctuates way too much then! It drives me crazy. I’m going to try to be really disciplined with my thyroid support supplements I take. I haven’t been too good at that lately. And I’m going to try to drink a lot more water too. Thanks for the encouragement

Gosh I hate it when that happens!
Don’t let the scale get you down too much (I know easier said than done). Your weight can fluctuate so much for so many different reasons (not enough water, salt intake, etc).

I would agree with everyone and NOT let the scale be your only indicator of success. There are so many variables in weight fluctation. Hang in there! We can do this!
