Pre-Weigh In, Post Walk to Enormous

Posted on 04. May, 2010 by in Low Sugar Dieting, Weight Loss Progress

Tomorrow is my weigh in day. I’m not looking forward to it. As you probably read in my last post, I worked the Emmaus Walk over the weekend and one of it’s nick-names is Walk to Enormous because they feed you SO WELL!

Most of the time I did pretty well, though I did have a few things with lots of sugar. Like apple crisp (but it’s fruit, right? LMBO), a dinner roll, a piece of cake, and sparkling grape juice (boy was that ever SWEET!). Now that doesn’t sound tooooo bad, right? I must say, most of the meals were pretty healthy and low in sugar, so it was actually easier than I thought it was going to be. Oh, I did have one piece of Dove Chocolate as well.

One of the meals (the one with apple crisp for dessert) was a skinless, boneless chicken breast, green beans and a beautiful spinach salad! YummOH!  We also had nachos for one meal and sandwiches for another. Those were pretty easy to modify to a low sugar diet. I just left off the bread and ate the meat and veggies. I will tell you that I had A LOT of potato chips. Now, they are low in sugar, but they are also high in fat and sodium.

Even though I did have a lot of potato chips, I didn’t swell up like I normally do. And, and, and…hear this….I wasn’t tired or groggy like I usually am either. Even though I barely got any sleep the entire weekend, I had energy and was alert for the most part. There were a couple of times when I got sleepy for a few seconds, but it quickly went away and I felt energized and ready to go. I attribute this to maintaining a low sugar diet!

I did get some exercise in too…not a workout or anything…but I did do a lot of walking. The position I was working actually required me to go check on the timing of the other departments to make sure we were all in sync schedule wise, and part of my job was to make sure those who were actually taking the walk had all their needs met. I wish I would have had a pedometer so I could have measured how much I actually walked over the weekend.

I was able to drink a lot of water as well. There was always a pitcher of ice cold lemon water on our table, and I think I drank each pitcher all by myself. That required lots of trips to the bathroom, but I think it’s also why I didn’t swell up too much. I did have a little tiny bit of swelling in the ankles Sunday afternoon (probably from all the sugar I ate Saturday night), when we were almost done, but nothing like I usually get.

Well tomorrow is my weigh in. Oh shoot, that reminds me, we need new batteries for the scale. I will have to remember to get those when we go to town today. I think I’m going to get a Droid Eris! I am eligible to upgrade my phone, and I really like the looks and functions of the Eris. My hubby as a Droid and he LOVES it! The Eris has many of the same functions, just not a slide out keyboard. I don’t need that, plus my hubby’s phone feels like a brick. The Eris appears (I was checking it out online) to be more sleek and slim-lined, but I want to go in and “feel” it. :)

I might do a cleanse today just to flush my body of that excess sugar I ate over the weekend. And though I went to the bathroom a lot, I didn’t do my “doo-ty” as often as I should, if you catch my drift (sorry if that grosses anyone out). So, I’m going to take extra fiber today and do a cleanse. My right hip is really bothering me yesterday and today. It might be from all the walking or all the sugar. Not sure. Oh, plus I really need to get in a workout! I didn’t yesterday just because I was too busy catching up on everything.

How was your weekend?

Hey Mary ~ Sounds like you had a great time … good for you. We had a fun weekend too … celebrated bdays for two of the kiddos (Dave and Busters), went to a local street fair type event, and then out on the boat Sunday.

Had a great workout this morning … even though I really didn’t feel like going LOL I’m really glad I did!

What type of cleanse do you do? I’ve done the Isagenix cleanses over the years and I really like theirs. I’m started a 30 day yesterday with an online girlfriend of mine so we’ll see how I do LOL … helps me lose weight and with the other “problem” you mentioned LOL LOL … it’s actually a nutritional cleanse but some of the other stuff in the package is for “that” LOL LOL Let me know what you do for yours k? *SmiLes* Suzanne

I call it a cleanse, but there’s no official product or formula I use. I just drink a ton of water and try not to eat much. If I do eat something, it’s fruit or veggies, maybe some nuts. And I only eat a very small amount at time, enough to take the hunger pains away, like 1 small piece of fruit or a handful of nuts. If I have it, I also drink green tea as it really helps to flush my system. I will take extra fiber today for the other problem. LOL
