Food Analysis for the Week
I’ve been thinking a lot about what I eat today. Here’s what started me thinking about it. Take a look at what I ate yesterday; you will see I had a grade of “B” for the day. However, you will also notice my sodium intake is way too high. Before I took a nice hot bath last night, I stepped on the scale just to see where I was. I had a 5 pound gain!!!! I know weight fluctuates throughout the day, and the later it is the more you tend to weigh. I also tend to weigh more first thing in the morning because I retain some water. (I’m hoping as I get healthier that will all change.) Anywhoo, I’ve seen 3 pound gains in the middle of the afternoon, but never 5 pound gains. Granted this was late at night, so that might be why it was so much, but STILL. When I got on this morning, fully clothed and after I had my breakfast, it was down 0.8 pounds, so I know the 5 pounds had to be food and water from the day.
What I’m trying to get at, oh so unsuccessfully, is that I think my intake of sodium might be the problem. I’m doing pretty well keeping the carbs and sugar grams down, but it’s really hard to watch the sodium on a low carb diet. I am going to have to be more careful not to add any salt to my food. I do love pepper so that should be good enough.
Oh, also yesterday, I know I didn’t drink enough water, so that might be why I was retaining so much.
Do any of these things happen to you? What foods do you suggest for a low carb, low sugar, low sodium diet?
